This blog is to document my projects and provide an alternative for those who wish to view past and current work, as my practice to date has been mostly site specific and temporary.
My latest project FLOCK, which is still showing at the Hughlane Gallery Dublin1, was commissioned by the O’ Connell Street Intergration Arts Plan, in Dublin. The project basically consisted of about 10 workshops where different groups from the community, young and old, were invited to the gallery to participate in a series of simple workshops designed to produce work that would hang altogether to form one installation. The material used was black aluminium, ‘black wrap’, typically used in stage lighting, which is really an amazing material in what it can do. It can appear like paper but be molded and retain its shape. In this case the material was molded into 500 black birds which were individually suspended from the ceiling. The piece ran through the 3 sections of the gallery’s entrance foyer.
